10 Free Blogging Tools You Can Use to Grow Your Blog

Hey blogger! Let’s talk about some of the greatest free blogging tools that you can use to grow your blog.

I’m talkin’ more blog traffic, more money…more raving fans that love your stuff.

To get that blog growth, we need to have a few things in place. We need great content and a way to share that content with our readers. And that’s what this list of free tools is going to help you accomplish.

Let’s get to it!

{{ Our blog posts contain affiliate links. These don’t cost you anything, but they allow us to continue running this site and providing free content for our readers. Full disclosure here. }}

It all starts with your blog content. If you don’t have anything to read or consume on your website, there won’t be any growing to be had.

Here are two of the free blogging tools that I recommend for writing your blog content:

Google Drive

Google Drive is free with any gmail account. You can use this tool to create and share word documents, spreadsheets, and more. You can write and store all of your blog content on Google Drive for free.

And the best part?

Your Google Drive document will auto save every few seconds, so you never have to worry about losing your blog posts! I learned this one the hard way…

Keywords Everywhere

Keywords Everywhere is a free web browser extension for Google Chrome. It’s a tool that helps you find popular words and phrases that people are searching for online.

This keyword research will help write blog posts that will actually interest your audience and rank on Google.

You simply download the extension, and then type a word or phrase into Google. The extension will bring up stats relating to that keyword, including how many people are searching for that term in a given month. It will also show related keywords and similar searches.

I looked up “work from home jobs” and the results look like this:

Super helpful for creating content that your audience is searching for online!

There are a million tools out there to help you brighten up your blog, your social media, and your online presence.

And the online world is a VISUAL PLACE. Ya gotta have some visuals that speak to your audience.

Here are a few of my free favorites!

Canva is a free design tool that allows you to create any kind of graphic for any of your blogging needs.

They have thousands of templates to choose from for all of your social media posts and any other document or marketing materials you can dream up. You can also design your own graphics from scratch.

They do have an option to upgrade to a paid account with extra features, but honestly, the free option is all that you really need. If and when you decide to upgrade to professional design software, go with something like Stencil or Photoshop.

Word Swag

This is a super fun app that allows you to create tons of free graphics, on your phone, in seconds. You can make graphics for Instagram, pins for Pinterest, and anything else your heart desires.

Email marketing is an important part of the puzzle for most bloggers.

Connecting with your readers and followers through email is the best way to get their feedback, figure out what their needs are, and recommend/provide the things that fill those needs.

So, let’s talk free blogging tools that will help you with your email marketing.

I use and love MailerLite for my email marketing service. It’s free and easy to use, so it’s pretty much a no-brainer.

MailerLite is free to use for your first 1,000 email subscribers, which gives you plenty of time to get your feet wet in email marketing and start making money to cover future costs.

You can create pop ups and landing pages to collect email addresses. And you can automate email sequences to send them out at specific times and dates.

Pretty cool stuff (I’m a huge email marketing nerd, if you couldn’t tell). And if you sign up with this Mailerlite link, you get a $20 credit toward your future payments!

Alright now. ConvertKit isn’t free for the long-haul, but you do get a free 14-day trial to give it a try. And in that 14 days, you’ll definitely have the chance to see if it’s the right fit for you.

I know a lot of bloggers that use ConvertKit because it has a great tagging system that allows you to send specific emails based on the behavior of your subscribers.

After the trial, the monthly fee is $29 so this is an ideal investment if you are super serious about focusing on your email marketing strategy.

Now, for the fun stuff! Getting your stuff out there in front of the eyes of your potential readers!

You guys know I wasn’t going to write a blog post about free blogging tools and leave out PINTEREST, right?!

Pinterest is my love.

It’s probably the best free tool that can help you grow your blog and make money blogging. I use Pinterest to promote my blog posts, and it’s easier than you might think.

I put together this free Pinterest challenge to show you exactly how to use Pinterest to promote your blog.

Facebook Promo Groups

Coming up in second place, Facebook is a great tool for promoting your blog posts too. There are a ton of blogging Facebook groups that allows you to promote your blog posts and social media accounts, to help you increase your reach and find potential readers.

My email subscribers get access to my FREE master list of Facebook promo groups and their schedules. So be sure to hit that link above and join the party!

Automation will be your new best friend once you start using it!

You can schedule content to share throughout the week or month so that you can focus on more important things, like creating new content … or lounging on the beach. Because, ya know #priorities!

There are two truths to remember here.

The first truth: you simply cannot be present across all online channels, all day, every day… all year long. You’ll burn out and give up. It’s just not possible.

The second truth: you still need to be showing up and providing value for your audience every day, even if you can’t be physically in front of them.

and that is where automation kicks in!

It is “the norm” to be present in front of your audience for some things, and to automate some things. So, get used to it (and enjoy it)!

Tailwind offers one month of free access to their automation tools if you use my link above. That gives you plenty of time to determine if it’s a good fit for you.

This nifty little tool allows you to schedule an unlimited number of Pinterest pins to your account in a matter of minutes. You also get free access to Tailwind Tribes, which are niche-specific groups of people that promote each other’s pins!

Sign up for one free month of Tailwind and bask in the beauty of AUTOMATION.

Once you sign up, you’ll also have the option to “refer a friend” and get monthly credits for doing so.

So, if you were to successfully refer one friend each month, your Tailwind subscription payment would be covered for those months, and you can continue to use the service for free.

If you don’t want to join the referral program, that’s okay too! The fee is $15/month to schedule 400 pins or $119/year to schedule unlimited pins.

Obviously, if you can swing the small investment, the yearly payment comes with a lot more bang for your buck!

This automation tool gets overlooked by a lot of bloggers, but it shouldn’t!

It’s called If This, Then That (or IFTTT for short), and it allows you to automate and connect all of your social channels, media channels, and any personal or public accounts you want to “speak to each other”.

It takes a little getting used to, but it’s worth every minute of time invested in learning the system.

I would just create a portfolio page on your current website and add your example blog posts to that page. This way, you can direct new clients to your portfolio page to see your work.
